The Services We Provide
We have a strong focus on performance improvement intended specifically to drive profitability, growth, and Enterprise Value Creation. To that end, we provide services in the following key areas:
Strategic Planning
The management discipline of defining long-term strategic goals and supporting operational elements. Our focus is to ensure that each element of the strategy supports the overall vision and strategic objective of the company. Our typical work in strategy is an assessment of our client’s current strategy with respect to its effectiveness in the existing environment and it’s alignment to operational plans. We help our clients define and evolve new processes that are more durable to future changes, and ensure that those processes are translated into detailed operational plans. Senior Management at BLMC have been helping clients with strategic planning for over 30 years, including using techniques from BCG, McKinsey, GE, and others. We are familiar with at least 15 different strategy methodologies to apply to the appropriate situation. Finally, and most importantly, we ensure that clients layout strategy execution plans that are practical and realistic to achieve.
Strategy Execution
The development of the operational plans and infrastructure needed to support the fruition of the corporate vision. It is our experience that most companies have a high-level strategy yet struggle to implement that strategy effectively. This largely stems from an inability to accurately self-assess the current-state of the business and thus identify the gaps between the existing landscape and the desired future-state. Consequently, most companies will create operational plans based on current capabilities as opposed to the capabilities needed to execute the strategy, thus falling short of meeting strategic objectives. Strategy Execution is a rigorous process that structures the details concerning: what must done, why it is must be done, how it is to be done, when it is to be completed, and who is responsible for the results. Additionally, there must be feedback mechanisms built into execution plans to ensure strategic objectives are being met, and provide a function for re-evaluation and adjustment. Execution is carried out by organizing the enterprise to define and implement the operational tasks that support the strategic goals. If operational plans are not enabling the manifestation of core strategic elements, the operational plans need to stop, or be modified. These feedback loops are critical to accomplishing rapid change.
Operations Restructuring
The ability to quickly achieve an effective operational state that supports the business strategy, maximizes performance improvement, and leads to growth and profit. Almost all companies have a vision for where they would like to be operationally but have a hard time transforming themselves to meet that vision. This stems from one major problem... the people who work at the company already have jobs, and "transformation" isn't part of their daily duties. We help clients transform their business into their ultimate vision by leading the organization through a current-state assessment, a future-state design, transforming operations, and implementing mechanisms for continuous improvement. We do this by working side-by-side with a semi-dedicated team of internal client personnel, leading them through the time-tested methodologies of project management and operational transformation. We primarily specialize in Lean principles, process and systems design, organizational alignment, and operating model development.
process & systems alignment
The seamless integration of people and technology to work together to support effective operations and customer service. Our experience shows an increasing trend for companies to view technology as the only answer to internal and external challenges, leading to many corporate-wide initiatives for local and global technology roll-outs. However, after technology implementation, many companies do not realize the gains targeted. The primary cause for this failure is the misalignment of the systems technology to the core business processes. Often, the key to overcoming these challenges lies in developing optimized business processes that support the business objectives. We excel at assessing the current landscape, redesigning processes for maximum efficiency, and simultaneously designing technology solutions that are completely aligned to the optimized processes.
Systems Design & Integration
The design or selection IT platforms to support an optimal process. Being successful with new technology introduction requires a deep understanding of the inter-dependencies between business process and information systems. These inter-dependencies necessitate that the end-to-end process and systems requirements are defined concurrently, driven by the core business needs, and have a high level of participation from key stakeholders across the business. Our integrated approach minimizes the business risk, accelerates implementation, minimizes technology iterations, and increases the likelihood of project success. Often a critical decision needs to be made to Buy or Build the desired technology platform. If buying a package is a viable option, we assess potential vendor solutions against tightly defined business requirements, ensuring that it is not only an economically viable solution, but also can be seamlessly integrated into the existing corporate systems landscape. We then help our clients successfully implement the solution. If no pre-built solutions are viable, we will design a solution to support an optimized process. Based on the requirements definition, associated use-cases, and data requirements we then create the technology solution using industry leading techniques such as AGILE and Rational Unified Process (RUP) for software engineering. This approach allows us to help our clients achieve a reduced time-to-market (or internal deployment), minimize innovation risk, and ensure a high-quality end product with lower development and implementation costs.
